Sherrell resigns as Guild Staffer
Sherrell's May 2004 resignation from the staff of the Graphic Artists Guild ended a decade and a half of service to the nation's artists. Her purpose in resigning was to pursue, for the first time, illustration fulltime. Did she miss The Guild? Yes, a bit. Fourteen years of responding to artist hotline calls, the relationships formed, the pride I had in being central to that organization in various roles—that combination is hard to replace. But illustration called, although
Sherrell remains a loyal, dues-paying Guild member. Happily, illustration has so far proven to be the right choice.

Construction Carpenters
“Construction Carpenters,”(next page) hung in the Illustrators Club show, at Washington Arts Institute in November 15, 2004 - January 17, 2006. This was the first public showing of a new style/technique I’ve been developing. My heartfelt thanks to Joe Azar, Greg Gersch, Jim Nuttle and the Illustrators Club volunteers whose efforts make this fine show possible.

Grateful kudos to David Quammen, President, Figure Models Guild of Washington, for his help in locating models on short (is there any other kind?) notice and for generosity with his art library when a subtle facial expression eluded me. Dave’s help allowed me to meet the requirements for four illustrations for Slingshot LLC, Dallas.
